In a neighborhood
| Need |
An elderly widow needs a wheelchair ramp built to enter her home. |
| Posted By |
A neighbor of the widow was walking one day and saw her trying to get up the steps with her wheelchair at the base of the steps. |
| Sponsored By |
A local church saw the need posted on HelpRoot, called the widow and sponsored the need. |
| Project Overview |
Through a conversation with the widow, a deacon at the church finds out the widow recently fell and has trouble walking. Not only does the church build a ramp for her home, but also uses HelpRoot to find and assign families within the church to bring her dinner once a week.

| Need |
Clean up a creek and its shoreline that runs through the downtown of a small city. |
| Created By |
A community organization that is dedicated to keeping the areas waterways free of litter and pollution. |
| Sponsored By |
The same organization that created the need on HelpRoot is also sponsoring the need. |
| Project Overview |
Planning weekend events to keep the city and its surrounding waterways clean is old hat to this group. Because of their limited budget to use for promoting the clean up events, finding new volunteers has been a challenge until now. Now they can find new volunteers, tap into existing relationships and manage all the project details. After they set up the event, they have several applications to review from willing volunteers. They choose volunteers who live close to the project, share the organization's desire and are willing to go through an orientation and screening process before the event.

For disaster relief
| Need |
Clear and strip homes to their frame after flooding. |
| Posted By |
A church in the community affected by flooding identified 40 homes and posted them each individually on HelpRoot. |
| Sponsored By |
Churches from multiple states surrounding the flooded area each took on one house. |
| Project Overview |
Churches that already had home repair and construction volunteer crews decided to sponsor these needs because they already had skilled labor. The churches paid for part of the travel costs and the volunteers paid for the rest. The church that posted the need agreed to provide lodging for the crews. Another community church and the city agreed to provide food for the crews. They also found mold and mildew specialists who offered to work at a discounted rate, making sure any respiratory hazards were identified ahead of the crews arrival.
